The Mega Man series has been an amazing series that provides awesome platforming and challenges us every step of the way. Later on Mega Man X came around and made a much more technical experience for us to play which includes hidden upgrades throughout the levels and some pretty cool boss characters. This list is made up of the top 5 best Mega Man X games as chosen by us.
5. Mega Man X6 (2001)
Mega Man X6 introduced some new features to the series including rescuing reploids for bonus items. This enable a wealth of bonus weapons and features to be unlocked and allowed us a sense of accomplishment after obtaining all the unlockables. Zero also became playable as the story progressed and was probably one of the more fun versions to play as with his newly refined sabre.
4. Mega Man X2 (1994)
Mega Man X2 was the second game to be released in the series. Further advancement was made to the different armor enhancements including the ability to dash when airborne. This was also the game in which Capcom decided to place another easter egg known as the shoryuken (taken from street fighter of course.) One things for sure Capcom did not make this easter egg easy to get that’s for sure!
3. Mega Man X4 (1997)
X4 introduced us to a fully playable Zero for the first time. Having the option to finally be able to play through the entire game as Zero wielding his beam saber made this game memorable. Not only could Zero fight the bosses, he could also gain abilities after defeating them much like X could. This was also the first X game to enter the 32 bit era on the Saturn and PS1.
2. Mega Man X (1994)
The original X game started it all. Not only was it difficult (final boss especially) but it included a sense of accomplishment and excitement when reaching the end of the game. This game introduced a new way to play Mega Man and started a series that would go on for a decade. With many hidden gems (including the street fighter haduken and many armor pieces) this game became a classic and won’t soon be forgotten.
1. Mega Man X3 (1995)
X3 was an outstanding game in the series. The game included zero as a playable character that could be called on to help you through a certain part of a level, different mech suites that could be earned as you found them, and a ton of armor pieces to be had. Additional upgrades to found enhancements could be made and you could even unlock the gold armor which made X ultra powerful. The gameplay was top notch and the secrets were well thought out making X3 the best of the series. Oh and gold armor X with zero’s saber is ridiculous.
